Ductwork Repair — Book a Visit Today

We repair, seal and replace residential ductwork across Oregon and Washington, and a visit starts with finding where the air is going instead of guessing. Ducts fail in predictable ways: tape and mastic dry out at the joints, flex runs sag and kink in crawlspaces, boots pull loose from floor registers, and old insulation falls away so conditioned air warms up before it reaches the room. On site we check static pressure, walk the accessible runs, and look at return air as closely as supply. Then we tell you what sealing will fix and what genuinely needs replacing, in plain language. If one room never keeps up or your system runs long without satisfying the thermostat, call us and describe what you are seeing.

The ductwork symptoms we hear most

  • One bedroom is always ten degrees off from the rest of the house Disconnected boot, crushed flex run or a duct sized wrong for the room
  • The furnace runs and runs but the house never gets there Supply leakage into a crawlspace or attic, or undersized return air
  • Dust keeps coming back a day after we clean Return-side leaks pulling unfiltered air from under the house
  • I can hear air whistling or rushing near the ceiling Open joints, loose collars or high static pressure in a restricted run
  • Upstairs cooks in summer and the downstairs is fine Uninsulated attic ducts, poor balancing or leaking trunk connections

Whether you call it ductwork repair, air duct repair or duct sealing, the work is identical and so is the quote you approve first.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Change the air filter and note whether the old one was grey on one side only, which hints at where air is moving.
  • 2Walk the house and confirm every supply and return vent is open and not blocked by furniture or rugs.
  • 3Check the thermostat mode, setpoint and fan setting, and swap the batteries if the display looks faint.
  • 4Clear leaves, grass clippings and stored items away from the outdoor unit so it can move air freely.

Ductwork Repair — quick answers

How do you find a leaky duct?

We combine a visual walk of the accessible runs with static pressure readings and airflow checks at the registers. Where access allows we use pressure testing to quantify total leakage. That tells us whether you have a few bad joints or a system-wide problem.

Is sealing enough, or do I need new ductwork?

Sealing solves most leakage at joints, collars and boots when the duct itself is sound. Replacement makes sense when flex is torn, sections are crushed, insulation has fallen off, or the layout was never sized for the airflow the system needs.

Can leaky ducts make my energy bills higher?

Yes. Air that escapes into a crawlspace or attic is air you paid to heat or cool, so the system runs longer to satisfy the thermostat. We will not put a number on your savings, but the run times usually drop noticeably.

Do you seal ducts from the inside or the outside?

Most residential work is done from the outside of the duct with mastic, mesh and mechanical fasteners at the joints. Interior aerosol sealing exists but is rarely the right first step in the crawlspaces and attics common across this region.

Will fixing my ducts help with smoke season air quality?

It helps. Sealing return-side leaks means more of your air passes through the filter instead of being pulled straight from a crawlspace or attic. Pair that with a filter your system can actually handle and the difference inside is real.

How long does duct repair take?

A targeted sealing visit on accessible runs often finishes in a day. Replacing a full system of ducts depends on access, crawlspace height and how much of the layout changes. We give you a scope and a schedule before any work starts.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form. Describe the noise, the smell, the temperature, and when it started. That detail helps us bring the right parts and gives you an honest idea of the visit ahead.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant behaviour and the outdoor unit. We tell you what failed and why, in plain language, before anyone reaches for a part or a price.

  3. Step 3

    You choose the repair

We lay out the fix, any parts on order, and what happens if you wait. Once you agree, we do the work and confirm the system holds temperature before we pack up and leave.

Why homeowners call us

  • Heat pumps are our normalIn this region heat pumps outnumber furnaces, so defrost boards, reversing valves and short cycling in wet weather are everyday work for us. We know how these systems behave in a cold December rain, not just on a test bench.
  • Wet winter defrost problemsIce on the outdoor coil, a unit that runs and runs without warming the house, puddles that refreeze under the pad. We trace whether it is a sensor, a stuck valve, drainage, or airflow, then fix the actual cause.
  • Filtration after smoke seasonWildfire smoke turned indoor air quality into a real conversation here. We look at filter fit, return sizing and IAQ options that your blower can actually push air through, rather than choking the system with the wrong media.
  • We explain before we chargeYou get the diagnosis, the options and the trade-offs before work starts. If a repair is not worth it on an old system, we say so. No pressure, no jargon dumped on you at the door.
