The independent heating and cooling company across the Willamette Valley and northwest Oregon

Whole-Home Air Purifiers

We install and service whole-home air purifiers that mount into your existing ductwork, for homeowners across Oregon and Washington. This is the job when a portable unit in one room is not keeping up: smoke season haze, cooking odors, pet dander, or a house that just smells closed-in by February. A whole-home purifier treats the air your heating and cooling system is already moving, so every room gets the same treatment. Call us and describe what you are smelling or seeing, and we will look at your duct layout and your current filtration first.

What the install actually involves

We start at the air handler or furnace cabinet, because that is where the purifier has to live. Most installs mean cutting in a housing on the return side, wiring the unit to a low-voltage or line-voltage source depending on the type, and sealing the connections so unfiltered air is not sneaking around the media. On older systems we sometimes have to modify a filter rack that was never sized for a deep media cabinet. Typical work runs a few hours, and your system stays down while we do it.

What we check before we install anything

Static pressure comes first. A purifier adds resistance, and if your blower is already fighting undersized returns, a thick media cabinet will make airflow worse and your heat pump will feel it in cold weather. So we measure, we look at return sizing, and we check duct sealing at accessible joints. We also check what filter you are running now, since a badly fitted one-inch filter is often the real problem. Then we talk about UV, media, and electronic options and what each one actually addresses.

How we decide a whole-home unit is the right call

If your complaint is one room, one pet, or one season, better filtration and a properly sealed filter rack may solve it for less work. Whole-home purification earns its place when the concern is spread across the house: wildfire smoke pulled in through a leaky building, allergies that do not quit, or someone in the home with a respiratory condition. We will tell you plainly if your ducts need attention before a purifier makes sense. Fixing leakage first usually gets you more clean air than any add-on device.

Whole-Home Air Purifiers — quick answers

Will a whole-home air purifier help during wildfire smoke season?

It helps a lot if the house is reasonably tight and the system runs. Fine smoke particles need deep media or electronic filtration, and the blower has to move air continuously. We will check whether your setup can support that.

Does it replace my regular filter?

Usually it becomes your filter, in a deeper cabinet with a longer service interval. Some designs sit alongside a standard filter. Either way we show you what to change and roughly how often before we leave.

Will it make my system louder or reduce airflow?

Any added filtration adds resistance. That is why we measure static pressure first. If your returns are already undersized, we address that or recommend a lower-restriction option rather than choking the blower.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form. Describe the noise, the smell, the temperature, and when it started. That detail helps us bring the right parts and gives you an honest idea of the visit ahead.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant behaviour and the outdoor unit. We tell you what failed and why, in plain language, before anyone reaches for a part or a price.

  3. Step 3

    You choose the repair

We lay out the fix, any parts on order, and what happens if you wait. Once you agree, we do the work and confirm the system holds temperature before we pack up and leave.

Why homeowners call us

  • Heat pumps are our normalIn this region heat pumps outnumber furnaces, so defrost boards, reversing valves and short cycling in wet weather are everyday work for us. We know how these systems behave in a cold December rain, not just on a test bench.
  • Wet winter defrost problemsIce on the outdoor coil, a unit that runs and runs without warming the house, puddles that refreeze under the pad. We trace whether it is a sensor, a stuck valve, drainage, or airflow, then fix the actual cause.
  • Filtration after smoke seasonWildfire smoke turned indoor air quality into a real conversation here. We look at filter fit, return sizing and IAQ options that your blower can actually push air through, rather than choking the system with the wrong media.
  • We explain before we chargeYou get the diagnosis, the options and the trade-offs before work starts. If a repair is not worth it on an old system, we say so. No pressure, no jargon dumped on you at the door.
