AC Repair — Book a Visit Today

We handle air conditioning repair for homeowners across Oregon and Washington, and the fastest next step is to tell us what the system is doing right now. Most calls come down to a handful of parts: a failed capacitor, a seized or noisy fan motor, a low refrigerant charge from a leak, a compressor that will not start, or a control problem that stops the outdoor unit from ever running. A visit starts with what you noticed, then we check the thermostat call, the electrical side, airflow through the filter and coil, and pressures on the refrigerant circuit. You get the cause in plain language, the repair options, and what we would do first. Call us and we will book the soonest slot in your area.

The AC symptoms we hear most

  • Air is coming out of the vents, but it feels warm Low refrigerant charge from a leak, or an outdoor unit that is not running
  • The outdoor unit hums and then quits Failed run capacitor, hard-starting compressor, or a contactor problem
  • It runs all afternoon and never reaches the setpoint Undercharge, dirty coil, restricted airflow, or a system that has lost capacity
  • Loud grinding or rattling outside Fan motor bearings, a loose blade, or debris in the condenser cabinet
  • Breaker trips every time the AC starts Electrical fault in the compressor circuit, motor windings, or wiring

Whether you call it air conditioning repair, air conditioner repair, air conditioning service or AC repair, the work is identical and so is the quote you approve first.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Check the thermostat: fresh batteries, set to cool, and the setpoint below room temperature.
  • 2Look for a tripped breaker at the panel and reset it once. If it trips again, stop and call us.
  • 3Pull the filter and check it. A clogged filter chokes airflow and can freeze the coil.
  • 4Clear leaves, grass clippings, and stacked items away from the outdoor unit so it can breathe.

AC Repair — quick answers

How soon can someone come out when the AC quits?

Call us and we will give you the first available window rather than a vague promise. Emergency AC repair gets priority when the house is unsafe to sit in, and we will tell you honestly if your call fits that or waits until tomorrow.

My AC is not cooling at all. Is that always refrigerant?

No. Plenty of no-cool calls turn out to be a capacitor, a contactor, a thermostat wiring fault, or a filter so loaded the coil iced over. We check airflow and the electrical side before we assume the refrigerant circuit is low.

Can you just top off the refrigerant?

Refrigerant does not get used up, so if the charge is low there is a leak. We find and repair the leak, then charge the system to spec. Adding gas without fixing the leak means you call again in a few weeks.

Is a bad compressor worth repairing?

Sometimes. If the compressor itself has failed electrically or mechanically, we compare the cost of that repair against the age and condition of the rest of the system, then lay out both paths so you can decide with real numbers.

What is a capacitor and why do they fail so often?

It is the part that gives the fan motor and compressor the push they need to start. Heat and years of cycling wear them out. It is one of the more common AC repair parts and usually a same-visit fix.

Should I keep running the system while I wait for the appointment?

If it is tripping a breaker, smells burnt, or has ice on the refrigerant lines, shut it off at the thermostat and leave it off. Running a system in that state can turn a small repair into a compressor replacement.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form. Describe the noise, the smell, the temperature, and when it started. That detail helps us bring the right parts and gives you an honest idea of the visit ahead.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant behaviour and the outdoor unit. We tell you what failed and why, in plain language, before anyone reaches for a part or a price.

  3. Step 3

    You choose the repair

We lay out the fix, any parts on order, and what happens if you wait. Once you agree, we do the work and confirm the system holds temperature before we pack up and leave.

Why homeowners call us

  • Heat pumps are our normalIn this region heat pumps outnumber furnaces, so defrost boards, reversing valves and short cycling in wet weather are everyday work for us. We know how these systems behave in a cold December rain, not just on a test bench.
  • Wet winter defrost problemsIce on the outdoor coil, a unit that runs and runs without warming the house, puddles that refreeze under the pad. We trace whether it is a sensor, a stuck valve, drainage, or airflow, then fix the actual cause.
  • Filtration after smoke seasonWildfire smoke turned indoor air quality into a real conversation here. We look at filter fit, return sizing and IAQ options that your blower can actually push air through, rather than choking the system with the wrong media.
  • We explain before we chargeYou get the diagnosis, the options and the trade-offs before work starts. If a repair is not worth it on an old system, we say so. No pressure, no jargon dumped on you at the door.

  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
