Mini-Split Repair — Book a Visit Today

We repair ductless mini-splits and multi-zone systems for homeowners across Oregon and Washington, and the fastest next step is to tell us which head is misbehaving and what the indicator light is doing. Most calls come down to a few families of failure: clogged indoor filters and blower wheels, condensate lines backing up and dripping down a wall, outdoor units struggling through wet winter defrost cycles, failed communication between an indoor head and the condenser, or refrigerant and control faults that throw an error code. A visit starts with the symptom you describe, then readings at the head, the line set and the outdoor unit until we can name the cause. Call us with the brand, the number of heads, and the code on the display.

The mini-split symptoms we hear most

  • One head blows nothing while the others work fine Indoor unit fan, control board or communication wiring fault on that zone
  • Water is running down the wall under the indoor unit Blocked condensate drain, dirty blower wheel or a pitched-wrong drain line
  • The outdoor unit runs but the house never warms up Defrost control, low refrigerant charge or reversing valve trouble in heating mode
  • A musty or sour smell every time the head starts Biological growth on the coil and blower wheel, plus standing water in the drain pan
  • The head flashes a code and shuts itself off Sensor, board or high-pressure lockout the system is reporting on purpose

Search for it as mini-split repair or ductless AC repair and you land in the same place: one visit, one written quote.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Pull the washable filters out of each indoor head and check whether they are grey with dust. Rinse, dry fully, reseat them.
  • 2Check the thermostat or remote batteries and confirm the mode is set to heat or cool rather than fan only or dry.
  • 3Look at the breaker and any disconnect switch feeding the system. If a breaker has tripped, reset it once and call us if it trips again.
  • 4Clear leaves, blackberry growth, snow and stacked yard items away from the outdoor unit so air can move through the coil on all sides.

Mini-Split Repair — quick answers

Why does only one of my indoor heads stop working?

Each head has its own fan motor, sensors and control board, plus wiring back to the outdoor unit. A single dead zone usually points to that head or its communication line rather than the whole system, which is good news for the repair.

What does the blinking light on my mini-split mean?

It is an error code, and the pattern matters. Count the blinks and note whether the timer or operation light is involved, then tell us when you call. That code narrows the diagnosis before we open anything up.

Can a leaking indoor head be repaired, or does it need replacing?

Usually repaired. Most leaks come from a blocked condensate drain or a filthy blower wheel throwing water past the pan. We clear the drain, clean the coil and blower, and confirm the line still drains under load.

Why does my mini-split ice up outside in winter?

Wet, cold weather across the region loads outdoor coils with frost, and the unit is designed to defrost periodically. Persistent ice means the defrost cycle, a sensor or the refrigerant charge needs attention. Do not chip at the ice.

Do you work on multi-zone systems with several heads?

Yes. Multi-zone systems add branch boxes, longer line sets and more communication wiring, so we test each zone separately and then look at how the outdoor unit is distributing across all of them.

How do I get a repair visit scheduled?

Call or send us a message with your brand, the number of indoor heads, the symptom and any error code showing. We will ask a few questions to see whether it is a same-visit fix or a parts order, then book a window.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form. Describe the noise, the smell, the temperature, and when it started. That detail helps us bring the right parts and gives you an honest idea of the visit ahead.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant behaviour and the outdoor unit. We tell you what failed and why, in plain language, before anyone reaches for a part or a price.

  3. Step 3

    You choose the repair

We lay out the fix, any parts on order, and what happens if you wait. Once you agree, we do the work and confirm the system holds temperature before we pack up and leave.

Why homeowners call us

  • Heat pumps are our normalIn this region heat pumps outnumber furnaces, so defrost boards, reversing valves and short cycling in wet weather are everyday work for us. We know how these systems behave in a cold December rain, not just on a test bench.
  • Wet winter defrost problemsIce on the outdoor coil, a unit that runs and runs without warming the house, puddles that refreeze under the pad. We trace whether it is a sensor, a stuck valve, drainage, or airflow, then fix the actual cause.
  • Filtration after smoke seasonWildfire smoke turned indoor air quality into a real conversation here. We look at filter fit, return sizing and IAQ options that your blower can actually push air through, rather than choking the system with the wrong media.
  • We explain before we chargeYou get the diagnosis, the options and the trade-offs before work starts. If a repair is not worth it on an old system, we say so. No pressure, no jargon dumped on you at the door.
