AC Installation — Book a Visit Today

We install central AC systems, heat pump replacements and ductless mini-splits for homeowners across Oregon and Washington, and the next step is a home visit to size the equipment properly. Most installs start with a system that failed on a hot week: a compressor that stopped, a refrigerant leak in an older unit, or an air conditioner that never cooled the upstairs because the ductwork could not carry the air. On the visit we measure the house, look at duct sizing and returns, check the electrical panel capacity, and talk through what your rooms actually need. Then you get a written scope with options, not a sales pitch. Call us to book a walkthrough, and if your current system is still limping, we can talk about air conditioning repair first.

The AC installation symptoms we hear most

  • The AC runs all day and the house still never gets cool Undersized or failing equipment, duct restriction, low refrigerant charge
  • Our unit is old and the repair bill keeps growing End-of-life compressor or obsolete refrigerant, replacement territory
  • Upstairs is ten degrees warmer than downstairs Duct design and return air problems, single-zone system on a two-story home
  • There's no ductwork in the addition or the garage conversion Candidate for a ductless mini-split zone
  • The outdoor unit is loud, rattling, or shaking the deck Worn compressor or fan bearings, failing mounts, aging condenser

Search for it as AC installation or air conditioner installation and you land in the same place: one visit, one written quote.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Check the thermostat: fresh batteries, set to cool, and the setpoint actually below room temperature.
  • 2Look at the breaker panel for a tripped breaker on the air handler or outdoor unit circuit.
  • 3Change the filter if it is grey or matted, since a clogged filter chokes airflow and mimics a dying system.
  • 4Clear grass, leaves and stacked items back from the outdoor unit, and confirm supply and return vents inside are open and unblocked.

AC Installation — quick answers

How do you size a new AC system?

We measure the house: square footage, window area and orientation, insulation, and duct capacity. Then we match equipment to that load. Oversized systems short cycle and leave humidity behind, so bigger is not better. The measurement happens on the visit, before any equipment is ordered.

Should I repair my air conditioner or replace it?

If the system is under about ten years old and the failed part is common, air conditioner repair usually makes sense. If the compressor is gone, the refrigerant is obsolete, or you've paid for two repairs in two seasons, we'll price both paths and let you compare.

Can you install AC in a house with no ducts?

Yes. Ductless mini-splits mount an indoor head on the wall or ceiling and connect to an outdoor unit through a small penetration. They work well for older homes across Oregon and Washington, additions, converted attics, and rooms one central system never reached.

How long does an installation take?

A straight changeout of an existing central system is typically one day. Adding ductwork, moving the indoor unit, or a multi-zone ductless install can run two or three days. We'll give you the schedule in the written scope so you can plan around it.

Do you install heat pumps instead of AC?

Often, yes. A heat pump cools in summer and heats in the shoulder months, which is why they're common across the region. If your heating side is also aging, replacing both with one system is usually simpler than two separate projects.

Will my electrical panel handle a new system?

We check that on the visit. Older panels sometimes lack a spare circuit or the capacity for a new outdoor unit, and that work needs to be planned in, not discovered on install day. If an upgrade is needed, it goes in the written scope.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form. Describe the noise, the smell, the temperature, and when it started. That detail helps us bring the right parts and gives you an honest idea of the visit ahead.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant behaviour and the outdoor unit. We tell you what failed and why, in plain language, before anyone reaches for a part or a price.

  3. Step 3

    You choose the repair

We lay out the fix, any parts on order, and what happens if you wait. Once you agree, we do the work and confirm the system holds temperature before we pack up and leave.

Why homeowners call us

  • Heat pumps are our normalIn this region heat pumps outnumber furnaces, so defrost boards, reversing valves and short cycling in wet weather are everyday work for us. We know how these systems behave in a cold December rain, not just on a test bench.
  • Wet winter defrost problemsIce on the outdoor coil, a unit that runs and runs without warming the house, puddles that refreeze under the pad. We trace whether it is a sensor, a stuck valve, drainage, or airflow, then fix the actual cause.
  • Filtration after smoke seasonWildfire smoke turned indoor air quality into a real conversation here. We look at filter fit, return sizing and IAQ options that your blower can actually push air through, rather than choking the system with the wrong media.
  • We explain before we chargeYou get the diagnosis, the options and the trade-offs before work starts. If a repair is not worth it on an old system, we say so. No pressure, no jargon dumped on you at the door.
