The indoor air quality symptoms we hear most
- I dust on Saturday and it is back by Monday Duct leakage pulling in crawlspace or attic air, or a bypassed filter cabinet
- My nose bleeds and everything shocks me all winter Low humidity, no whole-home humidifier or one that has stopped feeding water
- The upstairs feels clammy even with the AC running Oversized cooling with short run times, or humidity that needs a dedicated dehumidifier
- When the smoke rolls in I can smell it inside Filtration too thin for fine particulate, or unsealed return leaks bringing outdoor air in
- There is a musty smell every time the fan kicks on Wet coil or drain pan biofilm, damp duct sections, or standing water in the pan
Whether you call it indoor air quality work or air purifier installation, the work is identical and so is the quote you approve first.
Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Change your filter and check that it sits tight in the cabinet with no gaps around the edges.
- 2Walk the house and confirm supply and return vents are open and not blocked by furniture or rugs.
- 3Check the thermostat settings and batteries, including any fan or ventilation mode that may have been left off.
- 4Look at the outdoor unit and clear leaves, bark dust and blackberry growth back a couple of feet on all sides.

Will a better filter fix my dust problem?
Sometimes, but a thicker filter in a leaky cabinet just moves air around the media instead of through it. We check how the filter seals and whether return ducts are pulling unfiltered air from a crawlspace or attic before recommending anything.
What humidity should I aim for in winter?
Most homes feel comfortable somewhere in the 35 to 45 percent range. Go higher and you get condensation on windows and moisture in wall cavities. A whole-home humidifier tied to your system holds a setpoint instead of you refilling a tank.
Do UV lights actually do anything?
A UV light mounted at the coil helps keep biological growth off the wet surfaces and the drain pan, which is where musty smells usually start. It is not a replacement for filtration and will not remove dust, smoke or odors from the air.
What helps most during smoke season?
Deeper media filtration with a properly sealed cabinet, plus sealing return leaks so you are not drawing outside air past the filter. We also talk through when to close ventilation dampers and when to run the fan continuously to keep air moving through the filter.
Why is my basement damp in summer?
Cooling removes some moisture, but a basement often stays humid because the air is cool without long enough run times to dry it. A whole-home dehumidifier ducted to that level handles moisture independently of temperature.
Can indoor air quality equipment strain my system?
It can if it is chosen badly. A filter that is too restrictive for your blower raises static pressure and hurts airflow. We measure static pressure first and size filtration and ventilation to what your system can actually move.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the quote form. Describe the noise, the smell, the temperature, and when it started. That detail helps us bring the right parts and gives you an honest idea of the visit ahead.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant behaviour and the outdoor unit. We tell you what failed and why, in plain language, before anyone reaches for a part or a price.
- Step 3
You choose the repair
We lay out the fix, any parts on order, and what happens if you wait. Once you agree, we do the work and confirm the system holds temperature before we pack up and leave.

Why homeowners call us
- Heat pumps are our normalIn this region heat pumps outnumber furnaces, so defrost boards, reversing valves and short cycling in wet weather are everyday work for us. We know how these systems behave in a cold December rain, not just on a test bench.
- Wet winter defrost problemsIce on the outdoor coil, a unit that runs and runs without warming the house, puddles that refreeze under the pad. We trace whether it is a sensor, a stuck valve, drainage, or airflow, then fix the actual cause.
- Filtration after smoke seasonWildfire smoke turned indoor air quality into a real conversation here. We look at filter fit, return sizing and IAQ options that your blower can actually push air through, rather than choking the system with the wrong media.
- We explain before we chargeYou get the diagnosis, the options and the trade-offs before work starts. If a repair is not worth it on an old system, we say so. No pressure, no jargon dumped on you at the door.
